TMS Online Course
Be certified to deliver Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation through the neurocare academy. Register in the online course and then follow up with practical training.
neurocare academy offers a TMS course accessible to practitioners worldwide through the online LMS e-learning platform.
This is a self-paced course where participants receive a theoretical background of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to treat Major Depression in clinical practice. It also presents emerging evidence as a therapy and protocols to treat OCD, as well as optimized benefits when combined with Psychotherapy and Sleep Hygiene Maintenance. Participants will receive an overview of TMS intake and safe delivery protocols. The prediction of treatment outcomes and QEEG markers of response and non-response to TMS will also be presented. This course presents a balanced overview of recommended TMS technologies by manufacturers which include Neuronetics, Brainsway, Magventure, Mag and More, Deymed and Magstim and also introduces the new technique of Neuro-Cardiac-Guided TMS (NCG-TMS), a state-of-the-art technique to accurately locate the DLPFC in stimulation.
This online course will also present the evidence for the neurostimulation and biofeedback techniques and is suited to professionals with limited experience in neuromodulation.
After successful completion of tests and modules, you will have a solid understanding of TMS (rTMS) within the research and clinical fields. Enrolled professionals gain access to course lessons and practical demonstration videos for a period of 6 months. See course content below.

Frequently Asked Questions about the TMS Online Course
-
This course is intended for Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychiatric Nurses, Neuroscientists, students and researchers looking to TMS in a practice setting.
The course is restricted to professionals. Demonstration of a master's level (or equivalent) in human sciences is needed to gain recognition of course completion.
-
Each lesson features a pre-recorded video which includes presentation slides. Subtitles can also be turned on. Users are required to watch lessons completed in sequence. You will need to watch the lesson in full in order to complete the lesson and advance to the test.
-
There are 13 tested lessons and each lesson goes for no longer than 20 minutes. We expect a total time commitment of 5.5 hours including the time to complete the short tests after each lesson and the final exam.
After completion of the final exam, practical demonstration videos are unlocked for your reference.
-
All core lessons are followed by a test. An 80% pass of the test is required to advance to the next lesson. The test can be repeated as many times as needed. Each lesson includes a recorded video presentation and accompanying learning materials.
After completing all theoretical lessons, there is an automated final exam requiring an 80% pass rate. We strongly recommend using the note-taking feature in preparation for the exam.

This course must be completed within 6 months, to maintain consistency of study, ensure understanding of course materials and prepare you adequately for practical training.
-
The online course is an ideal first step to gain theoretical insights of TMS and to observe case studies and evidence for TMS in clinical practice and is a pre-requisite to attending a practical workshop*.
You will receive a certificate acknowledging the time commitment of the online TMS course towards Continuing Professional Development.
However, attending a practical workshop is generally required to become certified to deliver TMS. neurocare offers practical advice and learning pathways suited to the regions in which we currently operate (Germany, The Netherlands, Australia, United States.)
It is the responsibility of the healthcare professional to check the certification requirements to deliver TMS in their country.
Please see the Accreditation page for more details.
*this does not apply to the TMS 'Praxisworkshop delivered by Dr Wolfgang Strube in Munich.
-
The online course is an ideal first step to see if TMS is right for your practice or to gain more insights for your research or professional development. There is no obligation to attend a practical workshop after completion.
However, if you intend to prescribe and deliver TMS in practice you must attend a practical workshop and follow the guidelines of your region. If neurocare academy is not currently advertising practical workshops in your region, please get in touch as we may be able to make a custom arrangement.
Certification by region
The Netherlands
The online and practical course combined follows the blueprint by Stichting Hersenstimulatie and requires a further 10 hours supervision to receive accreditation as ‘rTMS Professional’, or a further 20 hours supervision to receive accreditation as ‘rTMS Technician’.
Australia
The completion of this online course, followed by a practical workshop (Sydney or Melbourne) is required for certification.
We hold ISO9001:2015 certification and our rTMS Certification Course complies with the RANZCP Professional Practice Guidelines on the Administration of rTMS (PPG16, November 2018). All course or workshop participants will receive a certificate acknowledging their time spent towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
All other regions
Completion of this online course (Part I) and practical workshop (Part II) follow recommendations provided by the IFCN (International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology) committee for training in the practice of non-invasive brain stimulation (Fried et al. 2020). All course or workshop participants will receive a certificate acknowledging their time spent towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
